Good lighting

Use natural daylight or bright, even artificial light. Avoid harsh shadows.

Close-up

Fill the frame with the coin. The closer the better for edge and surface analysis.

Flat angle

Photograph the coin face-on (perpendicular) for accurate color and detail.

Clean surface

Dust or fingerprints can trigger false surface warnings. Handle by the edges.
